    ACCIONA, through to its Concessions business, has extensive experience in the transport infrastructure sector. This business area encompasses road, railway, tram, metro, port and airport projects.

    The Concessions business has more than 1,300 km of experience in road projects, from the Econorte Highway contract in Brazil signed in 1996 through to the recently awarded Puhoi to Warkworth highway in New Zealand.

    ACCIONA’s projects in this area are acclaimed for the outstanding urban integration of these infrastructures, which has been recognised by numerous awards for accessibility, urban development and integration.

    1,300 km of highways under concessions

    Different types of highway concessions with conventional barrier tolls, free flow systems and shadow tolls. We also have projects with different types of contract, with payments based on availability and with demand risk.

    ACCIONA’s concessions business has accumulated experience of six urban railways that carry 80 million passengers annually. These projects are acclaimed for the outstanding urban integration of the infrastructures, which has been recognised by numerous awards for accessibility, urban development and integration.

    In recent years, the projects in this business area have received important international awards, such as those presented to the Zaragoza Tramway, “Best Urban Integration Project 2012” from the UITP (International Association of Public Transport) and “Best Global Project of the Year 2012” at the Light Rail Awards; and those won by the Sydney Light Rail, “Asia-Pacific Deal of the Year 2015” from Project Finance International and the “Government Partnership Excellence Award 2016” from IPA (Infrastructure Partnership Australia).
